Dr. Rudolph Hahn & Sylvia Hahn

Summary

Known notoriously as the "Mad Doctor of the South Hill," Dr. Hahn lived in the historic 1916 mansion on South Hill (Rockwood Blvd). He was known for hosting wild parties, erratic behavior—such as shooting guns inside the house at "insects" to intimidate those around him—and performing back-alley abortions. In 1940, his young wife Sylvia died in the mansion from a gunshot wound to the head, officially ruled a suicide amid suspicion. In 1946, Hahn was brutally murdered in his apartment, stabbed through the heart with a World War II bayonet. Haunted Phenomenon: The Hahn Mansion and Hahn’s former haunts are infamous for poltergeist activity, disembodied screams, heavy footsteps, and cold spots tied to Sylvia’s tragic final days and Hahn’s chaotic presence. Burial / Memorial Location: Cemetery: Fairmount Memorial Park (Spokane, WA). Details: Both Dr. Rudolph Hahn and Sylvia Hahn's remains are interred here (their ashes were notably placed together in the columbarium/mausoleum).
